Vorige week was ik door Medik8 uitgenodigd om een uitgebreide gezichtsbehandeling te ondergaan en kennis te maken met hun producten, waaronder hun allernieuwste revolutionaire paradepaardje: r-Retinoate® Youth Activating Cream. Er zijn ergere manieren om de ochtend te beginnen ;). De behandeling vond plaats in de luxe Beauty Salon van Monique Gottmer in Amsterdam Zuid waar ik werd ontvangen met een heerlijke cappuccino en een healthy gember/bietensapje van Dr. Blend.

Ik kende Medik8 van de bekende microneedle dermaroller, die ik zelf overigens nog nooit geprobeerd heb omdat al die micronaaldjes over mijn gezicht me altijd een beetje eng leken. Ook wist ik dat veel van de Medik8 producten gebruikt worden bij cosmetische behandelingen en sterk geconcentreerde ingrediënten bevatten die zeer effectief zijn, zoals bijvoorbeeld retinol (vitamine A) en vitamine C. Medik8 producten worden dan ook enkel in professionele salons gebruikt en verkocht.

Voordat mijn behandeling begon had ik aangegeven liever geen retinol op mijn huid te willen gebruiken omdat deze erg gevoelig is en ik bang was voor een heftige reactie. Maar mijn behandeling stond in het teken van ‘skin brightening’ met behulp van vitamine C en dus hoefde ik nergens bang voor te zijn :). Wat volgende was een heerlijke gezichtsbehandeling met een scrub, enzym peeling, masker, twee serums een SPF 30 als afsluiter. Smeren met een SPF na zo’n intensieve cosmetische behandeling is erg belangrijk omdat je huid daarna extra gevoelig is voor UVA en UVB straling.

Na afloop kreeg ik ook hun allernieuwste product mee naar huis. De r-Retinoate® Youth Activating Cream. Een product waar maar liefst 8 (!) jaar aan is gewerkt door een team van wetenschappers en inmiddels al een Cosmopolitan Beauty Award heeft gewonnen. Deze crème is een ware doorbraak als het aankomt op anti-ageing huidverbetering. Het werkt namelijk 8x beter dan retinol! En waar retinol niet geschikt is voor alle huidtypen (denk aan allergische reacties en overgevoeligheid) is r-Retinoate® dat wel omdat het zachter is en minder kans op irritatie geeft. Sterker nog, het product claimt zelfs geschikt te zijn voor de gevoelige huid. Dus ook ík kan het product zonder problemen gebruiken. Na 4 weken schijnt het resultaat al erg goed te zien te zijn: minder rimpels, minder pigmentvlekken en dus een jongere uitstraling. Ik ben super benieuwd!

LET WEL OP! Gebruik geen producten met retinol of r-retinoate als je zwanger bent of borstvoeding geeft!

• — r-Retinoate® – Innovative, stronger and safer than retinol! —

Last week I was invited by Medik8 to enjoy a beauty treatment and get an introduction to their products including their latest revolutionary innovation: r-Retinoate® Youth Activating Cream. There are worse ways to start the morning ;). The treatment took place in the luxury Beauty Salon of Monique Gottmer in Amsterdam South were I was welcomed with a nice cappuccino and a healthy ginger/beet juice from Dr. Blend.

I wasn’t that familiar with Medik8, but I knew about their famous micro needle dermaroller. I also knew that Medik8 products contain high concentrations of active ingredients (like retinol and vitamin C) and that they are used for cosmetic treatments. That’s why Medik8 products are only used and sold in professional salons.

Before the treatment started I told the skin therapist that I didn’t want them to use retinol because of my sensitive skin. I didn’t want to get a skin reaction. But since my treatment was all about ‘skin brightening’ and vitamin C, there was no need to worry :). What followed was a lovely facial with a scrub, enzyme peeling, mask, two serums and SPF 30. Applying an SPF is very important after such an intensive beauty treatment because the skin is extra sensitive to UVA en UVB radiation.

Afterwards I also received their newest product. The r-Retinoate® Youth Activating Cream. A revolutionary product that goes beyond retinol and which is a true breakthrough in anti-ageing skincare. A team of scientists worked 8 years on the patented molecule retinyl retinoate, the active ingredient in r-Retinoate®. It works 8 times better then retinol! Also, retinol isn’t suitable for all skin types (think of allergic reactions and hypersensitivity) but r-Retinoate actually is because it’s more gentle then retinol.

In fact, the product claims to be suitable for sensitive skin. So even I can use it without any problems. After only 4 weeks the result already seems to show: less wrinkles, less dark spots, and therefore an overall younger appearance. I’m super excited to put it to the test!

ATTENTION! Do not use products with retinol or r-retinoate when you are pregnant or breastfeeding!
