For some years now we’ve seen several BB creams from different brands. But what is a BB cream exactly? BB stands for ‘Blemish Balm’ and is part makeup, part skin care. A BB cream is supposed to provide both hydration and a bit of coverage. Like a day cream and foundation in one.

Although these BB creams have existed for quite some time, I’ve never tested one. But I’ve become more and more a fan of the effortless natural look of ‘les françaises’. And apparently their secret for this look is BB cream, so I decided to test Embryolisse BB cream ‘Artist Secret’ Complexion Illuminating Veil with SPF 20. The french love to buy their beauty products in pharmacies and Embryolisse Laboratoires is an iconic French pharmaceutical beauty brand.

This BB cream promises to change the appearance of the skin with fruit acids getting rid of dead skin cells and giving the skin a fresh, illuminated look. Mattifying minerals absorb excess oil and color changing pigments subtly blend into the skin tone. Pores, fine lines and imperfections are less visible and the skin looks soft and velvety. This BB cream makes the skin feel hydrated, supple and firm. And last but not least; it has anti-aging protection with a SPF 20.

I must say this BB cream keeps its promise! My skin feels hydrated, has a healthy glow and imperfections are a bit covered. But what I also love is the smell! It has a very fresh smell that helps you wake up in the morning. And now I’m also rocking the ‘nude look’.
