— BEAUTY REVIEW by guest blogger Carlijn Biesemaat —

Believe it or not but I (a true beauty addict) never tried a foundation in powder form. I always thought it would be difficult to apply and I didn’t think that it would achieve a nice flawless coverage… Boy was I wrong! Two weeks ago I visited Bas Hokke, national makeup artist for Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics. He took away my doubts and showed me some tricks on how to use mineral loose powder foundation. And… I’m hooked ever since :). Please let me tell you a little bit more about Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics.

During the makeup session Bas used the ‘Purely The Basics kit’, which contains: Mineral Rice Setting Powder, two shades of Natural Mineral Foundation, Crushed Mineral Blush and a sample of Hi Definition Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder. There’s a cute little kabuki brush inside as well. This easy to use kit contains everything you need to achieve a flawless face with mineral loose powder makeup. Now let’s get started!

First step is applying the Mineral Rice Setting Powder, a blend of minerals and pure rice powder. This powder can be used as a primer or as a setting powder. A multifunctional beauty hero. Sprinkle a little bit of powder in the lid and then use the brush to ‘pick up’ the powder from the lid. Apply the powder to your face and blend it into the skin by making circular movements with the brush. You can do the same with the Natural Mineral Foundation and the Crushed Mineral Blush. The circular movements ensure a natural, flawless coverage.

The ‘Purely The Basics Kit’ contains two shades of Mineral Foundation. Ivory is the lightest colour and suits me best. In Summer, when I’m a bit more tanned, I will use the colour Neutral which is a slightly darker shade.

I have to be honest: at first I needed to get used to this way of applying foundation. Normally I use liquid foundation everyday, so this loose variant is a newcomer in my beautycase but… it’s a definite keeper! I love this stuff! Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy to use and it gives you a healthy glow without a “cake” effect.

The last step in my Youngblood makeup routine is using the Hydrating Lip Tint. This sheer lip colour is more a lip balm then a lipstick. It’s all about recovering and repairing. The coverage is minor, the cute pink-redish color is just bonus. Did I mention the smell? No? It’s really, really good. I love it!

Bottom line of this review? Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics is a true star in delivering high quality mineral powder makeup. I’ve fallen in love with the Natural Mineral Foundation just because it’s so easy to use and the results have blown me away.

Liquid foundation move over. Loose powder foundation is my new favourite!
